New EC Czechnica project

The PGE Group Investment Committee published a positive recommendation for the construction project continuation of the New heat and power generating plant Czechnica. The construction of a modern production unit is a part of the PGE Group’s Heating Strategy which assumes energy security and air quality improvement in Polish cities. The published recommendation follows on the decision taken by the PGE Group in April 2018 to proceed with a feasibility study for two technical variants to replace the infrastructure of the current heat and power generating plant. The recommendation concerns the selection of one of them – it was decided that it will be a combined gas and steam unit with a reserve boiler house which will consist of 2 gas boilers and 2 mixed gas/oil boilers.

Environmental capital expenditure projects

In January 2016, desulphurization and denitrogenation systems were launched at the Wrocław Combined Heat and Power Plant. The project has significantly improved air quality: sulphur oxide emissions have been reduced fivefold and nitrogen oxide emissions threefold.

Information on the impact of activities involving exposure to ionising radiation on human health and the environment

In accordance with article 32c, section 2 of the Atomic Law of 29 November 2000 (Dz.U. [Journal of Law] of 2021, item 1941), Zespół Elektrociepłowni Wrocławskich KOGENERACJA S.A. notifies that it uses isotopic control and measurement equipment containing radioactive sources. Activities involving the use of isotopic control and measurement equipment take place in accordance with the authorisations issued by the President of the National Atomic Energy Agency (attached). Isotopic control and measurement equipment is used for process control and fuel quality control. The activities of Zespół Elektrociepłowni Wrocławskich KOGENERACJA S.A. involving the use of isotopic control and measurement equipment do not affect human health or the environment and do not result in releases of radioactive substances into the environment.
